Dawgs Win Regular Season Championship!!!!

The Prairie Baseball Academy clinched the regular season championship yesterday afternoon at Nolan Yard with 2 wins over the U of C Dino's. This is the Dawgs's 6th time winning the regualr season championship in the past 9 years.
In game one for the Dawgs sophomore pitcher Riley Spencer took to the mound. Spencer threw 5 complete innings allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits while fanning 4 Dino's batters. Cole Lencucha threw an inning and 1/3 not allowing a hit. Offensively for the Dawgs, Corey Wood blasted his 4th home run of the regular season in going 2-4 with 4 RBI's in the game. Travis Steinke went 2-3 in the game with 2 RBI's. The Dawgs won the 1st game of the double header by a final score of 7-1.
In game 2, freshman Dylan Johnson got the start for the dawgs going 4 complete allowing 1 hit while striking out 2 and giving up 2 earned runs. At the plate for the Dawgs freshman 3rd baseman Ryan Pidhaichuk launched his 5th of the season over the right field wall while going 2-3 with 3 RBI's in the contest. Right fielder Jake Pelham was also 2-3 in the game. The DAwgs won by a final score of 5-4
With the 2 wins on Sunday the Dawgs finish up the regular season schedule with a 20-6 record. This will be the last home stand for 12 players who will be moving on from the PBA Dawgs this season. Sophomore's : Joel Wrigley, Jake Pelham, Cole Lencucha, Adam Romaniuk, Brandon Petite, Luke Barry, Shayne MacInnis, Dan Gleason, Alex Regan, Riley Spencer, and Bretton Gouthro.
The Dawgs head to Kamloops, British Columbia on Wednesday for the CCBC Championship tournament and are in action for two games on Thursday.
The PBA Dawgs returned to action this past weekend at home versus the University of Calgary Dino's and the Thompson River University Wolfpack. The Dawgs finished up the weekend 3-1 in 4 games played.
In game 1 the Dawgs squared off against the U of C Dino's. Alex Regan took the hill for the Dawgs throwing 7 complete innings while allowing 3 Dino's hits, and no earned runs while strinking out 7 Dino's batters. Regan lowered his era to a team best of 1.03, while earning his 4th win in league play. Offensively for the Dawgs in the game, Luke Barry was 3-3 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored, while short stop Evan Comeau was 1-2 in the game with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's. In game won the Dawgs won by a final score of 12-1.
In Game 2, the Dawgs were in action against the TRU wolfpack. The Dawgs lost by a final score of 8-3. Shane Dawson took the mound for the Dawgs, throwing 5 complete innings while allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 6. At the plate for the Dawgs, Bretton Gouthro was 2-5 in the game with an RBI and a run scored, and Corey Wood was 2-4 in the game with a double.
On Sunday in game 1 the Dawgs faced off against the TRU wolfpack. Winning by a final score of 4-3. Brandon Petite got the nod for the Dawgs, putting in 6 innings of work for the Dawgs. At the plate for the Dawgs Bretton Gouthro was 2-3 with a run scored and Travis Steinke was 1-1 with 2 RBi's in the game.
In the final game of the weekend the Dawgs took on the Uof C Dino's winning by a final score of 9-3. Riley Spencer got the start going 5 complete innings in earning the win. At the plate for the Dawgs Travis Steinke was 2-3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored while Corey Wood was 2-4 wiht a home run and a double, and Ryan Pidhaichuk was 1-3 in the game with a home run. The Dawgs return to action next weekend at home vs the Okanagan Coyotes.
Dawgs finish up Exhibition play south of the border

The Prairie Baseball Academy finished up their final roadtrip to the U.S this past weekend. On Saturday the Dawgs were in Pendleton, Oregon taking on the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves.
On Saturday, in game 1, Shane Dawson took to the mound going 6 and 2/3 innings alloing 2 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 13 BMCC batters. Joel Wrigley earned the win out of the bullpen for the Dawgs pitching an inning and 1/3. While Archie Davis picked up his 4th save of the season pitching a scoreless 9th inning. Offensively for the Dawgs Colby Turple was 2-2 in the game with an RBI and a run scored. The Dawgs won by a final score of 4-3
In game 2, Brandon Petite took the hill, pitching 6 innings while allowing 1 earned run. Shayne MacInnis was 3-5 in the game and Bretton Gouthro picked up 2 hits in the game for the Dawgs on the offensive side. The Dawgs fell by a final score of 5-4.
On Sunday the Dawgs travelled to Washington to face the Walla Walla Community College Warriors in a double header.
In game 1, offensively for the Dawgs Travis Steinke was 3-4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored, while Evan Comeau was 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the game. Alex Regan got the start for the Dawgs throwing 7 complete innings while allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits and striking out 4 batters in earning the win. Cole Lencucha pitched a scoreless 8th inning, while Archie Davis picked up another save in the 9th inning. The Dawgs won by a final score of 7-5.
In game 2 of the double header Riley Spncer started the game for the Dawgs going 4 and 2/3 innings. At the plate for the Dawgs, Bretton Gouthro was 4-5 with 2 runs scored and Travis Steinke was 2-4 with 3 RBI's. Catcher Kyle Paulson gave the Dawgs a spark in the 6th inning with a 3 run home run to left field. But the Dawgs were unable to overcome the deficit and fell by a final score of 8-7.
The Dawgs return to action this Saturday in their first CCBC conference games against VIBI in Vancouver Island.
