April 22, 2008 Hello Alumni and friends of the Dawgs, I hope this letter finds you all well. It has been great to hear from those of you who have been in touch over the past few months. It has been quite some time since I’ve sent out an update, so with some important upcoming events, now was a good time to send out a quick note. Many of you may know that our program is hosting the Canadian College Baseball Championships again this year from May 15-17. This is an excellent opportunity for the PBA to showcase our program which in the past has been such a success due to the considerable time and effort put forth by the program’s board of directors. Every year we have many alumni who attend several Dawg’s games. Your support is truly appreciated and does reflect very well upon the program. A schedule of the tournament is available on this website. I hope many of you can make it out. Fortunately for us, coinciding with the championship tournament this year is the Lethbridge College (formerly LCC) 50 Year Anniversary celebration. Please visit the Lethbridge College website www.lethbridgecollege.ab.ca for more information. The College is hoping for a good turnout from PBA Alums. A significant honour is soon to be bestowed upon our own Coach Blair Kubicek. On May 3, Coach will be inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame in the “Builder” category for baseball. As you know, Coach has been a tireless educator, developer and promoter of baseball not only for the Prairie Baseball Academy, but for baseball in Canada as a whole. This honour is a testament to his dedication to our sport throughout his lifetime. If you would like to join Coach Kubicek in this celebration, please check out the City of Lethbridge website at www.lethbridge.ca or The Hall of Fame for information regarding times and location of this event. As for Alumni news, one of our own, Ken Falconer, has started a PBA Facebook group. It continues to be an excellent means of keeping in touch with many of you. If haven’t done so already, please search for the PBA Alumni group and join in. It will be an excellent way for us to send along any dates of events or activities going on. We will once again hold the annual Alumni Weekend this coming September. The specific weekend has yet to be determined, but we are looking at the 19-21. We will let you know as soon as a decision has been made.
