PRAIRIE BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIPS

Prairie Baseball Academy presents scholarships to qualified players annually at their Annual Awards Banquet.  Scholarships are presented to players attaining the qualifying academic standing as determined by the scholarship committee consisting of representatives from the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Community College, a government representative and the PBA academic advisor.  The Alberta Heritage Scholarship representative must approve all scholarships after submissions have been made.

To qualify for scholarships, players must attain a minimum average of 2.0 and be registered in 15 credits per semester at LC and 9 credits at U of L.  Players may receive more than one scholarship depending upon their academic standing.

PBA offers scholarships totaling approximately $ 50 000 each year depending upon the monies received towards the scholarship program.  Every year from inception, we have be given the opportunity of offering a full scholarship program.  Our goal is to offer approximately $ 55 000 worth of scholarships this year.

The Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund provides us with matching dollars to a total of $ 20,000.  PBA will then try to raise the remaining scholarship monies through their golf tournament and other scholarship donors.  To date PBA has already received donors to meet the matching scholarships and are looking for further sponsors.  PBA would like to offer every varsity player a minimum of $ 1500 in scholarships every junior varsity player a $1000 scholarship.  As well we have our “all academic team” consisting of the top 9 academic players who will receive a scholarship.  PBA also has some special scholarships in place such as the Memorial Scholarships.  Further scholarships may be forthcoming.

If anyone would like to join our scholarship program they may do so by committing to a three-year scholarship worth a minimum of $ 500 per year.  PBA will try to find matching funds to make this scholarship worth double what the donor commits. Donors are invited to the banquet to present their scholarships.
